Hold onto your Safari Hats as you trek through this adventure of a party!  Beth Greeson always hosts the most fabulous parties for her son- and I was lucky enough to get to help pull it all together!  Beth’s enthusiasm makes the parties full of energy and pure fun for the guests!

The cake (made by Kate Petronis of And Everything Sweet) was a stunner!

That giraffe!

Mom Beth invested in an outdoor movie screen and system several years ago and uses it for each of Luke’s parties!  We created a “Drive-In Movie” area for the kids to watch a safari show- while they sat in their own SAFARI JEEPS!

To make the Jeeps, I wrapped each cardboard box in zebra print wrapping paper…

I added licesnce plates from The Creative Orchard, black paper plate tires, cupcake liner headlights, and zebra ribbon tails…

Beth also designed a Safari Scavenger Hunt for the kids as part of the party activities…

Each child was given a safari hat and pair of binoculars…the table was set up with bamboo leaves and animals to make add color and interest!

After all of the fun and games, the kids enjoyed cake, cookies, safari trail mix, and Safari Juice!

And, another of my favorite parts of this wonderful party…the safari tent! The inflatable animals are from Chasing Fireflies- they made a huge impact on the party setting!

This was such a fabulous party!  A safari is a great theme for kids- they love the animals, the adventure, and the novelty of it all!  Plan your next adventure with some of these ideas- and let us know how it goes!

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

CAMILLE’S CLUBHOUSE ~ Confectionery, Soda Shoppe, Spa

My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday!  She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting!  With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together.  And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things!  We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”.  That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!

Birthday Party Ideas for a Teen- How to Celebrate a TEEN

Wow! My daughter turned into a teen!  Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone.  I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key.  At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate.  I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ).  So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could.  It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.
