I made these cookies for a friend who was moving (she said it was the best drive ever) and as a thank you for friends who had invited us for a visit.  My children each had one before the cookies were delivered and they said, “…Mommy, you should put these on your blog!”.  So, here goes- only I changed them a little to get them ready for the 4th of July*!

This is a family-favorite recipe from a favorite, family friend!  My friend, Heather, first made these for us and we made sure to get the recipe before the left!

They are actually called MONSTER COOKIES because of their size.  This recipe makes a BIG batch of BIG cookies- perfect for a crowd!

MONSTER COOKIES

1 CUP BUTTER

3 CUPS PEANUT BUTTER

2 CUPS WHITE SUGAR

1/4 CUP LIGHT KARO SYRUP

4 teaspoons BAKING SODA

1/4 teaspoon SALT

2 teaspoons VANILLA

6 EGGS

CREAM ALL INGREDIENTS AND ADD~

8-10 CUPS OATMEAL

12 OZ. CHOCOLATE CHIPS

12 OZ. M &M s

Scoop 1/4 cup for each cookie and drop on cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Enjoy!

* I added white chocolate chips (half a bag of white chocolate and half a bag of semi-sweet chips) and used only red and blue M&Ms for the cookies shown.  Happy 4th!

My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday!  She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting!  With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together.  And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things!  We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”.  That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.
