Celebrations are always sweet- and this one is extra-special and sweet!  Soon after I met my friend Brooke, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.   I was amazed by her grace and strength as she dealt with the disease.  Before her frequent check-ups, she is understandably anxious, but otherwise, she greets each day with her huge smile and lots of humor and fun.  A bright, happy, “Pink Party” seemed only fitting to celebrate our friend and her courage, cheerfulness, and success in overcoming cancer!

I invited our tennis team over for lunch and dessert.  I set up the desserts in a separate room to make them extra-special and had pink(ish) drinks on hand when everyone arrived~

I used pewter sniffers and crystal double-old-fashioneds to serve pink grapefruit martinis- topped with straw flags by Loralee Lewis so that everyone was “Sippin’ Pretty”

We served feminine ruffled cakes, topped with poms, along with cakepops decorated in pink with a vintage vibe to the pink bow…

I wanted everything to be very girlie and fun~

The cakepops were beautiful!  They had a shimmer to them that literally made them shine!

Kerri, from Sweet Indulgence, made the cake pops and the fabulously decorated Graham Crackers and Oreos~

Those are Graham Crackers under all of that prettiness!  They are so yummy covered in white chocolate and decorated with a pink, glittery, party garland!

And, the beautiful pink dress cookies…Nadia, of My Little Bakery, designed an entire wardrobe of pink dress cookies in honor of my friend Brooke.  Each dress was a different design and showed off individual style!

We had lunch in our very pink dining room~

At each place setting, I placed a pink pear candle as a subtle reminder to “Take care of your ‘pair’.”.

Here is our guest of honor~ always beautiful!

And the pink party crew posing for a shot~

I was so happy to get to show Brooke how much I admire her and how she handles her health with a healthy attitude and positive outlook!

I wish for all of you battling this disease the absolute best.  Women are strong, and I am proud to be surrounded by them each day!  Cheers to friendships, happiness, health, and smiles!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

CAMILLE’S CLUBHOUSE ~ Confectionery, Soda Shoppe, Spa

My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday!  She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting!  With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together.  And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things!  We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”.  That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!
