In an old house in Paris, that was covered in vines…Miss Clavel said, “…it’s party time!”.

MADELINE PARTY

Each guest received a beautiful invitation wrapped with a band and tucked inside a felt pouch~ made to resemble the cape that Madeline and her friends wore~

MADELINE PARTY

The table was set in two straight lines…each child had a placecard with their name and a small fondant Madeline at their place at the table~

As the guests arrived, they were greeted at the door by Miss Clavel (my daughter’s wonderful Kindergarten teacher) and were given little red suitcases and blue felt capes designed by Kate Landers and used with her blessing~

Each suitcase had a gorgeous luggage tag by Loralee Lewis.  Loralee was kind enough to surprise me with a custom design made especially for this party.

Miss Clavel took them to “The Louvre” for Lessons at the Louvre~

I hung Camille’s artwork as the featured artist at the Louvre and her sweet art teacher led the lesson.

They entered in The Old House and made their way around Paris with adventures along the way~ the house was drawn by my mother and painted by the birthday girl and my mom. Camille loved painting the house!

MADELINE PARTY

The girls listened as Miss Clavel set the mood by reading Camille’s favorite Madeline book, Madeline’s Rescue.

MADELINE PARTY

Next, they enjoyed Madeline’s Hat Parade where each child stood on number when the music stopped and, if their number was called, they chose a hat and then went to the Cafe’ for a parisian snack.

The Cafe tables were simply decorated with a sunflower on each table- a nod to Van Gogh’s painting, Camille’s Sunflowers…

The guests enjoyed french fare and a trip to the Candy Shoppe~

MADELINE PARTY

MADELINE PARTYCamille had a few special requests for her party- a candy shoppe, lots of red bows, and puppies like Genevieve had in the story, Madeline’s Rescue.  I loved incorporating those into the party!

There was a hunt for Genevieve that involved going around Paris looking for the pup- each stop included questions and clues for the girls to use to go to the next stop.  They got to see the sights along the way!

As cake was served, the guests took their seats~

MADELINE PARTYThis party is very dear to my heart!   We have read Madeline since my daughter was born, and now she enjoys the movie version with the “real” people.   It was a joy to watch all of the guests as they enjoyed  “Paris” for a day of fun in the life of Madeline.  Bonjour!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

CAMILLE’S CLUBHOUSE ~ Confectionery, Soda Shoppe, Spa

My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday!  She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting!  With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together.  And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things!  We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”.  That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE PARTY

What began as a simple gesture to introduce my daughter to a wonderful book series has become a special evening ritual for us- reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books!  I must admit, I didn’t realize quite how interesting these books would be to her, but she cannot wait to read all nine in the series.  It was only fitting that her birthday party focus around Little House on the Prairie!  Together, we had a ball planning all of the details of her party that related to the books in some way.  At Camille’s request, we focused on some of her favorite parts of the stories… prairie flowers, covered wagons, tee pees, the colors in the drawings of the books,  and “pretty”…because “Ma” liked things to be pretty!
