A beloved children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are, is brought to life by Nikki Berry for her son’s 2nd birthday! Nikki designed the fabulous, forest-like backdrop herself by using poms and by cutting out paper leaves and using origami flowers and trailing vines. With a mix of shades of green, the backdrop popped and set the tone for the party!
Notice the fur that lined the table…that was such an unexpected detail and just so perfect! Nikki also used the fur on the backs of the invitations that she designed and hand-delivered to the guests~
Nikki always amazes me with her gorgeous cakes that she makes for her children’s parties (Nikki shared her daughter’s party here)…this one is no exception! I love how it is topped with Max’s crown and displayed on a tree stump!

Favors included these amazingly cute and detailed cookies made by Nikki…
The favor tags include a line from the book, “…Oh please don’t go – we’ll eat you up – we love you so!”
And, each guest received wild, wooden crayons to enjoy illustrating their own wild rumpus!
Thank you for sharing your son’s party, Nikki! You did such a wonderful job of bringing the forest to the party and bringing the wild things to life while celebrating your favorite little boy! Mr. Sendak would have been proud!

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE PARTY
What began as a simple gesture to introduce my daughter to a wonderful book series has become a special evening ritual for us- reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books! I must admit, I didn’t realize quite how interesting these books would be to her, but she cannot wait to read all nine in the series. It was only fitting that her birthday party focus around Little House on the Prairie! Together, we had a ball planning all of the details of her party that related to the books in some way. At Camille’s request, we focused on some of her favorite parts of the stories… prairie flowers, covered wagons, tee pees, the colors in the drawings of the books, and “pretty”…because “Ma” liked things to be pretty!
