This darling first birthday party is full of “all things boy” and loaded with a clean, crisp style that would be perfect for so many other birthday party ideas and themes! Ngoc Nguyen Lay, of Sky Box Event Productions, planned and hosted this fun-filled party for her son’s first birthday party. I love how Ngoc added so many “boy favorites” such as airplanes, boats, sandboxes, and more! Read on to hear more from Ngoc herself!

Theme/Design Idea: I was going for a modern but classic birthday party...
...with paper airplanes, newspaper boats,
and all things boy! This party was created for my little rascal with
dirty knees and frogs in his pockets.

Decor Details: just to give you an idea of the design
- custom 3 tier cake, cake stand (sandbox) on grass like rug with cloud
 backdrop
- dessert table with mini desserts and vintage milk jars
- custom paper goods
- goodie bags were milk and cookies packed in a classic lunch bag
- centerpieces: blue mason jars with playful yellow mums
- food table included finger foods for the kids: jenga french toast, pizza
 and club sandwiches
- paper airplane and newspaper boat folding station
- predicting career game and guessing station
The dessert table is beautiful, and the cake is fabulous!
How cute to add "grass" and a "sandbox" under the cake!

Lunch was served for the guests, and what a lovely display of choices!

“Jenga” French Toast stacks (above) and sandwiches are so creatively served!

There were lots of activities for the guests to enjoy! This play space is adorable and looks like so much fun!

They played a traditional “Predict the Career” game- I love this game! Guests were given

voting slips and asked to predict what career A.J. will choose!

It looks like A.J. may want to be a rockstar one day…he chose the microphone!

Ngoc also had directions and supplies for the children and parents to make paper airplanes…

…and NEWSPAPER BOATS!  How fun for everyone!

Favor Bags were brown bags with milk and cookies inside each bag~

What a wonderful, wonderful birthday party! I love all of the “boy” references throughout

the party and how beautifully designed and hosted it was! A fabulous celebration!

Thank you for sharing the fun with us, Ngoc!

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE PARTY

What began as a simple gesture to introduce my daughter to a wonderful book series has become a special evening ritual for us- reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books!  I must admit, I didn’t realize quite how interesting these books would be to her, but she cannot wait to read all nine in the series.  It was only fitting that her birthday party focus around Little House on the Prairie!  Together, we had a ball planning all of the details of her party that related to the books in some way.  At Camille’s request, we focused on some of her favorite parts of the stories… prairie flowers, covered wagons, tee pees, the colors in the drawings of the books,  and “pretty”…because “Ma” liked things to be pretty!

Birthday Party Ideas for a Teen- How to Celebrate a TEEN

Wow! My daughter turned into a teen!  Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone.  I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key.  At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate.  I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ).  So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could.  It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.
