Wow! My daughter turned into a teen! Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone. I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key. At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate. I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ). So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could. It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.
There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party! For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style! So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan! It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN! Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.
Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time! My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun! Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes! For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor! So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!
When someone asks me to suggest a good idea or theme for their child’s birthday party, my first question is always, “…What is his/her favorite thing right now?”. I think it is always the best idea to throw a party based on what the guest of honor loves- and so I am thrilled to share this “Favorite Things” birthday party from Jenny at Bloom Designs! Jenny incorporated many, many of her daughter’s favorites into her 12th birthday party- from the location to the desserts to the activities! This party is full of great birthday party ideas for how to tie together lots of favorites and make it all fit together so well! Enjoy all of the fun of Audrey’s Favorite Things!
Under the Sea parties are so perfect for girls of all ages! It’s simple to create this Ocean theme with blue straws, blue cupcake wrappers, fish bowls, starfish cookies, Blue Macarons, Sea Blue Rock Candy and more. I love how this whole party was set up with the “bubbles” garland and streamers to resemble the ocean water and everything Dolce Designs put on the table. Here’s what Jesi had to say about this party she designed…
“This was a birthday party for a tween girl who adores the ocean and the color blue. I created a “blue room” by hanging up blue curtains in the window and a curtain of tri-colored streamers in the arch separating the party room from the next room in the house. The circle streamers and balloons were there as “bubbles”, and the fishing net and sea shells scattered throughout further enhanced the oceanic atmosphere.
The decor as well as the cake were kept simple and “grown up”, and I stayed as far as possible from the cartoony ocean theme usually seen for little boys. I wanted this to be a girly ocean theme, and the birthday girl loved it!”
This Mardi Gras party by FIZZY PARTY is fabulous, fun, and of course, french! No doubt, you will see lots of inspiration for birthday party ideas as well as that fabulous once-a-year celebration of Mardi Gras! I love how FIZZY PARTY took us down a different street with this one- rather than the typical purple, green, and gold, Tiffany opted for softer lavender and gold with lots of white. It is fabulous and would be a great party any time of the year!
This party pops in all kinds of cute ways! A POP-ART PARTY- inspired by the pop-art masters themselves- is a really fun way to unleash your creative side and celebrate someone special! Tiffany, of Lookie Boo, designed this fabulous party for her son on his 4th birthday. It is a fantastic combination of an Art Party and a Rainbow Party all in one-with the most creative spins that make it unlike any other! I love all of the handmade touches and really fun ideas to incorporate the likes of Andy Warhol right there with the budding imaginations of 4-year-olds!
Having a Bike Party for your 9-year-old birthday girl is a fabulous idea! Kara, from Lillian Hope Designs, hosted this free-wheeling, fun-loving, beautiful party for her daughter’s birthday. I love how Kara incorporated all of the gorgeous trends that a 9 year-old-old would love- chevron print, glittery gold, soft pink, and bicycles!
Turning ten is so much fun- especially when you combine 12 friends, classic games, and a camp-out sleepover! SNORES and S”MORES is such a cute and clever theme from Pat at ZPerfect Party! I love the raccoon that graces the designs throughout the party. This party looks like tons of fun- and it is full of ideas that you can use for your own child’s camping party!
My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday! She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting! With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together. And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things! We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”. That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!
When my daughter and I were talking about what she would like to do for her 10th birthday, we talked about all of the things that she loved. As much as I hate to admit it, one of those things is soda! She has yet to meet a soda she didn’t love. She suggested we buy one of those fancy soda machines that mixed them for you and serve those at her party along with hot dogs. And so, I told her it was a deal~ minus the fancy soda machine~ because we can mix our own and add a little ice cream. Needless to say, her eyes lit up brighter than those red cherries on top of an ice-cream-soda-float!
For my daughter’s 10th birthday party this year, we had a little bit of this and a little bit of that! I have to say, turning 10 marks a special time- the excitement of a decade and double-digits for the birthday girl and a lot of nostalgia for the parents! I can’t tell you how many times one of us has said, “I cannot believe our little girl is 10!” TEN! So, we invited a few friends over to celebrate in “Camille’s Clubhouse”- and in her Clubhouse we incorporated her wishes for her birthday party…here is the first part of her party photos. Camille’s Confectionery! Enjoy!
